Here are its key characteristics:
1. It is positioned fixed at the top of the screen, so it does not scroll with the content.
2. It contains 2-5 top-level navigation links or action buttons related to the primary functions in the app.
3. The link/button text is typically short to optimize space on mobile screens.
4. Tapping a single link/button opens the corresponding page or view.
5. It sometimes includes the app title or brand logo.
6. On Android, it takes the form of a standard top app bar.
7. On iOS, it resembles a toolbar.
